April Fool's Follies

Don't be fooled if you see advertisements for things that don't exist this April Fool's Day, because your favorite companies have sent out advertisements and pictures of the weirdest (fake) new technology. Google sent out a YouTube video advertising a new way to play Pokemon using virtual reality and a contest to find a Pokemon master so they can hire them.Google+ also fooled people by saying that when you upload your photos you can have the option of being photo bombed by David Hasselhoff. So be careful when shopping online, you might get fooled.

Where is the Plane

Whoever is responsible for the missing plane is believed to be most likely a pilot or passenger with advanced knowledge of planes and had been planning this for months, possibly years according to aviation experts. After a casual "all right, good night" sign off at 1:19 am March 8th the transponder was turned off two minuets later. A transponder is basically a tracking device for planes so the officials will know where it is if it is hijacked. The pilot was the first suspect the policed looked at, partly because he had a flight simulator in his house. There are theories that there were terrorists aboard the plane, that the pilot went off the deep end, or that the co-pilot went off the deep end. We might never know what happened, then again we might find out in a week that the equipment is malfunctioning. The main thing is to never lose hope that we might find them, someday.

Goodbye Giraffe

The killing of Marius was a controversial decision that was condemned across the globe.

At the Copenhagen Zoo's twitter, threats are being made after a young healthy giraffe was shot in the head while eating his favorite snack-rye bread. The 18-month-old giraffe, named Marius, was killed because he was one of the surplus giraffes in the zoo. Then, in front of children, they preformed an autopsy on it and fed it to the lions, claiming that they want the public to know how autopsies are done, one of the jobs of the zoo's vet. What I want to know is instead of scarring kids for life, why couldn't they have sent it to Africa or to a different zoo instead of slaughtering it?

Myris, the Iris Scanner

With all these social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, you have to remember countless passwords and usernames that you will probably forget, and have to change it or completely start over. However, EyeLock and Voxx Electronics have teamed up to change this. They produced Myris, a small mouse-like device you can plug into a computer via USB and use to gain access to your favorite website with your eye. Goodbye scraps of paper filled with passwords, hello eye scanner. The device actually scans your iris and will create a digital signature of it to use so you can log into different websites. All you have to do is look into the eye scanner.

How to Write Persuasive Speeches

Have you ever been in a situation where you want people to change their opinion about a certain topic? What you need is a persuasive speech. Persuasive speeches have changed people's opinions for years, like M.L.K.'s I Have a Dream did. Writing a persuasive speech is pretty easy, once you know what to do. To start say a statistic or some startling fact to get the readers attention. Then clearly state the topic and your point of view, also called the thesis. Voila, your introduction is finished! In your second paragraph state two or three reasons in support of your thesis from most important to lest important. Then state reasons the opposing side might be right,           then counter that, going back to why you are without a doubt correct in your thinking. Throughout the whole speech try to use good grammar and to make it sound more professional add quotes that will help prove your point. In the third paragraph, and especially when you are first mentioning your reasons in support of your thesis, use transition words. They will make your writing more fluid and easier to read. To end your speech restate the argument and the main points. Once again using sentences that will convince your readers that your opinion is definitely right. If you use these tips you will most likely have a great speech.
